Last Train

Last train is the first project of yet to be registered production company 'Dwee motion pictures',started by srikanth. We decided to roll out a short film as a starting step to this productions and to make it look impressive, we hired Justin bunnel, a professional cinematographer in US.This film was really challenging and gave all of us a great learning oppurtunity, real taste of what actual film making is..

I think the movie has come out well. Hats off to justin for his wonderful camera work, brandon and amogh for their amazing acting,Satish and ajay for their brilliant music.

Watch the film and good or bad, leave ur comments...

Maaps... U amaze me da! U know I'm not someone who just says "Padam nallaa irukku... gr8 work"; but the improvement u r showing from film to film is really stunning!

Positives:

1. Camera... Way too good and professional... Lightings, the colors, the angles, everything was mind blowing.

2. Narration. I was about to blog about Morgan Freeman and perhaps because of that, I was too impressed to see a movie driven by narrations... Awesome!

3. The theme... Unlike your previous attempts where I felt there was something missing in the way you communicate the idea, this one conveyed the theme perfectly, just perfectly!

4. The screenplay. Not a single useless moment in the film! Loved 'not the last drop of hope left' being correlated to coffee and 'fall after fall after fall' being used as a punn in the context.

5. Music... Whether it's the dull moments or the moments of hope, music was enchanting.

Now the negatives:

1. Introduction scene of the hero could've been better. I mean it's fine to have that dull mood conveyed but he turned back so prominently and it wasn't quite natural. Had the camera shown his face from the other side, it would've been awesome.

2. The acting part. Apart from the hero, I felt a lot of artificiality in acting. Some instances - nobody ends a phone conversation in 2 seconds, when he ran past u, u fell into the frame from the other direction which means he should've hit you from the other side, one of the desis perstering the other to take french fries (both the action and the concept were not too natural... I can't imagine somebody interrupting a friend trying to shoot something just because he has some French fries to offer :D) The climax part was much better though; and the only thing about it is that ppl hardly turn back after boarding a train to bid good bye to a stranger. He should've bid that good bye as he moved off.

U r building up ur positives and reducing ur negatives as u move along and that according to me is fantastic. Wish ur next work comes up with no negatives for me to find; and do consider taking me as ur assistant ;) :D

Balaji : The oher movies were funded by me, but this one is produced by dwee motion pictures..

Agni: Mappla,.thanks for detailed comments.I agree with the negatives, but hero turning to camera direction will be synched to a 'train arriving' sound....

I observed that the train sound was out there. But again, the whole action was kind of 'standing out' of the frame. Just my 2 cents :)
